About Thordata

Snapshot

Thordata is a Hong Kong-based proxy provider selling rotating residential, ISP, datacenter and mobile IPs alongside a managed web unblocker and a SERP scraper API. The pitch is enterprise-grade infrastructure at half the price of Bright Data — and on small workloads, that math actually checks out.

How it works

You sign up, choose a product (residential, datacenter, ISP, mobile, unblocker or SERP API) and top up. Auth is the standard user/pass against a gateway, with country, state and city targeting on residential. Sticky sessions hold an IP for up to 30 minutes; rotation defaults to per-request.

The web unblocker is the more interesting product — you point requests at a single endpoint, Thordata picks the right proxy type, handles JavaScript rendering and CAPTCHA solving, and returns the rendered HTML. You pay per successful request, not per GB.

Pricing reality

Residential: $3/GB pay-as-you-go, dropping to $1.80/GB at 1TB commitments. Datacenter: $0.20/GB. ISP proxies: $5/IP/month. Mobile (4G/5G): $9/GB. Unblocker: from $2.50 per 1,000 successful requests. Minimum top-up is $9.

That puts Thordata roughly between Bright Data ($8–15/GB) and DataImpulse ($1/GB). The argument for paying more than DataImpulse is the larger claimed pool and the bundled unblocker product. The argument against paying Bright Data prices is the absence of premium tooling like Web Scraper IDE.

Thordata vs the alternatives

ProviderResidential $/GBPool sizeUnblockerMin spend
Thordata$3.0060M+ (claimed)Yes ($2.50/1k req)$9
Bright Data$8.40150M+Yes (Web Unlocker)$500/mo
Oxylabs$8.00100M+Yes$300/mo
DataImpulse$1.00~10MNo$5

The honest read: Thordata sits in a crowded mid-market. It is cheaper than Bright Data and Oxylabs, more featured than DataImpulse, but the claimed pool size of 60M IPs is hard to verify independently. Run your real targets against it on a $9 top-up before committing to gigabytes.

Who should buy, who should skip

Buy if

  • You need an unblocker plus residential proxies in the same dashboard.
  • Your targets fail on small-pool providers like DataImpulse but you can't justify Bright Data's $500 minimum.
  • You scrape SERPs or e-commerce and want a managed unblocker pricing per success rather than per GB.
  • You already use Asia-region proxies and want a provider with strong APAC coverage.

Thordata is a credible mid-market option but not a slam dunk. Top up the $9 minimum, run your three or four hardest targets through both residential and the unblocker, and only commit to a paid term once you have measured the success rate against what your existing provider is delivering.

Frequently asked

What is the smallest amount I can spend on Thordata?
$9. That gets you roughly 3GB of residential bandwidth or 3,600 unblocker requests — enough to seriously test the platform against your targets.
Is the unblocker product a separate subscription?
Pay-as-you-go alongside everything else. You only get charged for successful requests, with $2.50 per 1,000 successes at entry pricing.
How does Thordata compare to Bright Data?
Roughly half the price on residential bandwidth, smaller (but still substantial) IP pool, and missing Bright Data's Web Scraper IDE. For mid-volume scraping the maths often favours Thordata; for 1TB+ workloads with strict compliance needs, Bright Data still wins.
Where is Thordata based?
Hong Kong, with global infrastructure. APAC coverage is one of its stronger points compared with western-headquartered competitors.
Does Thordata work for sneakers, ticketing or social-media scraping?
Mixed reports. Test on a $9 top-up before committing — the pool overlap with other resellers means burn rate on heavily protected targets can be unpredictable.
Is there a free trial?
No formal trial, but the $9 minimum and pay-as-you-go pricing function as one. Many users top up once, run their workload, and decide based on real success rates.
